![]() 2007-06-24, 07:59 AM week at a glance Possibly the best thing that has happened to me internet-wise lately is this. scott c is totally my hero. In other news. I banged my thumb yesterday and it hurts. Also, I was bit by a snake last week, in a turn that I am bragging about (it's my first time). And I donated blood after years of wanting to do it. There were free cookies and juice for my blood-squeezing-out efforts, and a big comfy chair to sit in. Also, picked strawberries, and harvested the first shallots from the garden. Tomatoes are starting to grow tiny tomatoes, and the peppers are starting to grow tiny peppers. Which reminds me, I should probably water them before heading off to work. 2007-05-14, 09:00 PM go girly It may be that reading this, you will think that Josh Lesnick is shamelessly pandering for people to link to his comic and share the love. That may be true, but I like to think he's having a genuine crisis of inspiration. It happens. I've been sucking on the writing lately, and at least my livelihood doesn't depend on it. I'd kind of like it to, but on the other hand I don't think I could handle the pressure so it's probably best that I keep it as my hobby. I've really enjoyed reading Girly. I suggest you start from the beginning but it's totally up to you. It took me a moment or two to get used to Lesnick's drawing style, but I was hooked anyways. The sense of humour is right up my alley. Which is to say, completely whacked out and strange. Anyhow. The hockey game is back on... Oh, did I mention that Girly is not underage friendly? I probably should mention that. Not that I think anyone under the age of 18 reads bp here. But just in case. 2007-05-07, 08:32 AM getting a little wild This morning I heard a warbler in the back yard. This expands the list of birds I have seen in our amazing new backyard to this: House sparrows, starlings, robins, crows, cardinals, blue jays, grackles, chickadees, juncos, chipping sparrows, song sparrows, flickers, a brown thrasher, and a black-throated green warbler. It's not terribly long yet. But it's getting there, and there's some good stuff on that list. I am spending copious amounts of time out in the garden. My veggie garden is probably about half-finished, and hopefully by the end of today I will have planted the shallots and onions waiting for me in the garage. We bought a couple of native plants yesterday from the Native Plant Source at the Clay and Glass Gallery's "Green Garden Party" and I'll plant them today; tomorrow it's supposed to rain a little, I hope, so that would be good for the new plants. |
