Articles. Articles. Articles. Oh, and some books. Actually, I did read Shana Abe's "The Smoke Thief" a couple of weeks ago. It's very light. A little steamy, and all in all well-written for a fantasy romance.

Oh, Nyquil. You do make my dreams wierd. At one point I was trying to climb into a fire grate (with a fire still burning inside) that was the escape to a different world, without a horde of goblins noticing. It turned out that the different world was actually my old backyard.

2007-02-28, 08:02 AM — i woke up and there's snow

Back from Cuba and in that weird sort of nether-region that encompasses the day after. Something feels different and yet everything feels the same, and I'm not quite sure what to do with myself, or how to capture the wide-eyed wonder that was my permanent state on the trip now that I'm back on familiar ground.

I saw many, many things, and learned more, and to process it all is going to take some time. Until then I'm going to make some coffee and do my laundry. Hasta luego.

There's a lot to love about this video. The music for the first segment. The fact that it's basically Marbleworks for adults. Um. Everything. I could go on. But I won't. You'll just have to watch it for yourself. Amazingly entertaining. Watch some of the others, too. The contest is particularly enthralling. I love the commentator. Aside from that, the machine itself is just incredible, even if the quality of the video is not.

Also, I believe this is a Moment for this site, with a capital "M". The very first time I have linked to that blackest of black holes, YouTube.

2007-01-24, 04:12 PM — one of those days

I am monumentally bored with everything today. Not sure what the deal is with that. Just everything -- everything I have tried to do has bored me.

So instead I shall link to this, which kept me highly amused for a while. Jane Yolen's comment on that front page made me laugh out loud.

And let that be a warning to anyone who would ever piss off scifi and fantasy writers. Formidible people, my friends, and many of them brilliant writers. If you dig a bit you'll find more out about the story, which I found really fascinating.

I also kind of want to get a copy of Atlanta Nights from lulu.com for a couple of reasons -- the cause is worthy, and I'm given to understand that it is full of chapters of What Not To Do when writing a novel. Or writing anything, period. Which might be useful. Furthermore, the last chapter was run through a text generator, then spellcheck and grammarcheck, and printed as is. Hee hee!
